NPs can diagnose and manage a wide range of health conditions (including chronic health conditions) promote health and wellness, and provide patient education.
Managing diabetes with a holistic approach involves addressing the physical, emotional and lifestyle factors that impact a persons health. As a holistic diabetes educator, Elle takes into account various aspects of a persons life to create a personalised plan for managing their condition. Education, empowerment, nutrition, movement, stress reduction, sleep, hygiene and medication management are some of the factors Elle will look at.
Elle has a common sense approach to weight loss, with a focus on the four pillars, functional nutrition, exercise, behaviours / psychology and hormones. With the addition of medication if clinically appropriate.
Elle addresses metabolic issues through a holistic approach, which involves considering various interconnected factors that influence metabolism. Such factors include nutrition, movement, stress management, sleep patterns, environmental toxins, and genetic predispositions. Metabolism is a complex process involving numerous biochemical reactions and pathways that all need to be considered.
As a qualified Midwife and Nurse Practitioner, Elle can focus on mother and baby, contraception, midwife support and handovers to primary health care team. Elle has worked with women wanting to fall pregnant and not wanting to fall pregnant.
Education on contraception choices, helping you to ensure your health is a focus. Developing health plans for contraception, family planning and beyond.
Nutritional guidance and support for pre pregnancy, pregnancy and postnatal. Including personalised plans, functional nutrition to heal the body, mindful eating and ongoing support.
Gestational diabetes managed primarily by nutrition, with the addition of medication is clinically indicated. Elle has found that the theme of lived experience of women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) was abandonment, shock, fear, anxiety and uncertainty. Elle is aware that a one size fits all approach is not a woman-centred approach to care. Every woman should feel she has a voice, she has choice. Elle is mindful of current evidence that suggests health practitioners need to ensure a woman and her pregnancy is the focus – often the focus moves with the diagnosis of GDM.
